January Marlive Harris
Marlive Harris, a former classroom teacher and school librarian in Texas, is fondly known among online literary circles
as MsGRITS, an acronym for Ms Girl Raised/Reading In The South. It is her love for literature, African American Literature
in particular, which led to the development of TheGRITS.com, an online reading community and online book promotion service for readers, writers, and small presses. She is also the columnist of "Written Voices" at AAKultureZone.com.
February Joan Johnston
Joan Johnston is the bestselling, award-winning author of forty-four novels, she was formerly an attorney with Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Miami, Florida. Joan also worked as a newspaper editor and drama critic in San Antonio, Texas, as a director of theatre in Southwest Texas, and as a college professor, most recently at the University of Miami, Florida. Joan has a B.A. in theatre arts from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida, an M.A. in theatre from the University of Illinois in Urbana and received her J.D. with honors from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
Joan is a member of the Authors Guild, Novelists, Inc., Romance Writers of America and Florida Romance Writers. She divides her time between homes in Colorado and South Florida.
March Denise Michelle Harris
Denise Michelle Harris is a national best selling author, with her first novel "Sweet Bye Bye" earning its place on the Amazon.com Best Seller lists as well as the Walden Books African American Best Seller List.
She was born and raised in Stockton, California, and moved to the Bay Area where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from California State University, Hayward and a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from the New College of California. Harris' "Sweet Bye Bye" Book Tour has taken her all around the country, to places like Miami, Detroit, Little Rock, Stockton, Sacramento, Seattle, Oregon, as well as Canada, and Alaska. Ms Harris and/ or her works has been featured in The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Fall Celebration of Books, The Contra Costa Times, Black Issues Book Review, City Flight Magazine, Essence Magazine, The Stockton Record and more.
April Lee Ann Butler
Lullalee is author and composer Lee Ann Butler-Owens; who combines her written, composed and performed talents to provide the highest musical adventures for children. The Lullalee Series, serve as a vehicle to promote education and positive messages through music. The center of attention is focused on preschool through the fifth grade level.
Owens showcased her original compositions in several projects as an accomplished performer in cable television projects and self esteem building tapes but now chooses the newest media in children’s entertainment to display her combined talent. Lullalee was developed when Owens wrote "Colleen’s Dollhouse" a children’s adventure, and dedicated the material to five- year old Lauryn Westbrook in Memory of her Mother Sylvia, who was Owen’s first cousin. June Toni Blake
Toni Blake's, love of writing began when she won an essay contest in the
fifth grade. By the time she graduated from high school, she had written her first novella along with countless short stories.
However, it wasn't until 1994 that Toni seriously began to pursue her dreams of being a writer.
In 1996, Toni was the recipient of the Kentucky Women Writers Fellowship as well as a nominee for the prestigious Pushcart Prize, and she soon had over thirty short stories and articles published in various youth, literary, and writing publications. Upon reading a few romance novels at the urging of a friend, Toni discovered a genre that was smart, funny, sexy, and spoke strongly to women, and knew that was where she should focus her efforts. Since 1998, Toni has written romance novels for Kensington, Harlequin, Warner Books, and Signet Eclipse, and has recently signed with Avon Books.
July Tina Volpe
Tina Volpe, was raised in Lake View Terrace, California. As a result of her love for, and interaction with animals, Volpe is a health researcher, 32 year vegetarian, author, speaker, educator, television host, radio host, consultant and published columnist. Also, she is a member of, and has made contributions to the many organizations that promote animal rights.
Volpe’s book The Fast Food Craze is her study of the farm industry and the affects its business decisions and resulting procedures have on animals due to the demands of mass production. Tina currently lives in Northern Arizona.
August Britta Coleman
Britta Coleman , is an award-winning author, journalist and inspirational speaker. Her hardcover debut novel from Time Warner Books, POTTER SPRINGS, has garnered national media attention, critical acclaim, and endorsements from best elling authors. Britta's "Practically Parenting" column is published as a regular newspaper feature, and her writing has appeared in FYI Television Features, Heroes for Humanity, Authorlink, the Amarillo Globe-News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She was recently given the Barnes & Noble Lone Star Scribe award for excellence in writing.

September Tim Teeter
Tim Teeter, J.D. is a retired defense attorney from Northeast Iowa. He grew up in the Midwest and began his legal career near his hometown of Charles City, Iowa. Swinging Bridges is Tim’s first book.
Tim started his academic career at Iowa State University earning a degree in Liberal Studies, he continued his studies at the Creighton University School of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate in 1998. Upon graduation from law school, Teeter started his own law firm in Sumner, Iowa. He is licensed to practice law in Iowa, Nebraska, and the District of Columbia. During his legal career he has argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court and published four articles regarding the legal issues surrounding e-Commerce. Tim moved to Stockton, California, to become a professor and a coach at the University of the Pacific. Currently Teeter works for the law firm of Eskanos and Adler, P.C. in Concord, California.
October Johnathan M. Isom
Johnathan M. Isom was born and grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Williamson High School where he was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by his classmates his senior year. After graduating in 1975. Johnathan pursued his undergrad studies at Tuskegee Institute with the notion that he’d pursue a career in law. He entered the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1980. Upon completion in 1985, he went on to do his surgery/medicine internship at the University of South Alabama from 1985 to 1986 and his anesthesia residency from 1986 to 1989.
Today Johnathan is a successful anesthesiologist in Memphis, Tennessee and author of the recently released novel Ambition, Be Careful What You Ask For.
November V. Anthony Rivers
Both of V. Anthony Rivers’ full length novels, Daughter by Spirit and Everybody Got Issues, are published by Strebor Books International. Anthony is also a contributing writer in several anthologies: Sistergirls.com, Love Is Never Painless and Truth Be Told. He currently has short stories and other novels in the works. His upcoming story, Until Again, will revisit a love affair that left off generations ago.
Also in the works is a story about friendship, love, and the consequences of hero worship called Romeo Revelations (Love seems to get in the way). A possible sequel to My Life Is All I Have and a very touching story about Timothy Beekerwood, a boy with a special gift of sight. V. Anthony Rivers was born in Los Angeles, California but stays very connected to his Texas roots where both sides of his family originate. He currently resides in Van Nuys, California.
December David W. Powell
Both of David W. Powell was born in East Los Angeles in 1941. He enlisted with the US Marines in April 1966 and served with distinction in Vietnam, earning the Purple Heart and other service awards. During the next two decades, he struggled with the effects of what would later be diagnosed as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He has been married three times and is the father of four children, Jason, Carissa, Scott, and Thomas. His vocation was in the computer environment. He was a first, generation computer programmer, systems analyst, project leader, manager, and owned his own computer consulting services company. He was a first generation student of Senior Grandmaster Edmund K. Parker, the father of American Kenpo Karate, and attained the rank of Black Belt in 1968. David has most recently relocatedto Tucson, Arizona. Current interests include his relationship with his mate, Susan, gardening projects, psychology and self-esteem, and history. |
